This is a survey of results in asymptotic approximations of discrete orthogonal polynomials. These polynomials
include Charlier, Meixner, Krawtchouk, discrete Chebyshev, Hahn and Tricomi-Carlitz. Brief descriptions
on the methods used to derive these approximations will also be given
